What’s Going to Be the Next Thing in Music Tech? Alex Luke Thinks He Knows!
Alex Luke, who is the head honcho at Amazon Music’s programming and content, believes that he knows what the next step is going to be in music technology. What is it? Voice control in cars.
With the popularity of Alexa (how many people do you know that have an Echo in their home?), it’s not surprising that Luke believes that the connected car is going to be a big deal, and that all of the things that you can do with your home you’ll be able to do with your vehicle. You can ask Alexa to play your favorite tunes at home – so why not in the car? And that’s going to do a lot for business.
Others have other opinions – for example, Aaron Boguki (the digital marketing VP at AWAL) thinks that augmented reality is going to play a big role in what’s next. Pokémon Go (and Harry Potter next year) are a big deal, so why not apply that to music in some way? Maybe location based experiences, or customizations for what you’re doing at the time.
No matter what it is, it’ll be really interesting to see what sort of disruptions come into the industry as a result of what is going on in technology as a whole. And, as always, music is going to adapt and change in a way that makes sense for what music does for people all over the world.
